OCD Support Group Feedback from Karen |

Hi, my name is Karen and I am the Treasurer/ Social Co-ordinator for the Christchurch OCD support group. Every couple of months a small group of like minded people get together to spent some time together. Activities we have participated in include Archery, Ten Pin Bowling, Movies, Mini Golf, Climbing Wall, Picnics and Walks. It’s not so much the actual events but the sharing of our friendship that to me is the most important part. On a recent Sunday we meet for coffee and then went for a walk around the Art Centre and surrounding area. I myself do not suffer from OCD but I have the greatest admiration for those people (and their partners and families) who do. Our main aim is to support each other not only with the OCD but just in general. We have lots of laughs and welcome anyone who would like to join us. You wouldn’t find a better more genuine group of people, believe me. Take care, Karen |

My OCD symptoms are normally less away from home and this leads me to believe that I should travel continuously. It is avoidance of course but it can be an exciting type of avoidance. Travelling continuously would mean I would have to be rich or in a rock band on tour (maybe both) but in the real world I am a man of modest means. |
